Signing at Barnes & Noble!!!

Saturday I'm signing copies of Promise & Purpose at the Barnes & Noble in Naples (Florida, not Italy haha), from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Hopefully some peeps will come in on their way to the beach and pick up a couple of good beach reads. Hehe

It's B&N's Local Author Event, which I think is really cool of them to do. I'm excited to see the other local authors and look forward to meeting some new friends.

Southwest Florida is home (at least part of the year) to a ton of authors. It's one of those places a lot of people imagine (whether they realize it or not) when they think, "If I could live anywhere..." because it's so incredibly beautiful, relaxed and you can't beat the weather...except maybe in August. And since writing doesn't dictate you live in a certain geographic location, many writers come here.

It's also the place of retirees and how many times have you heard people say, "When I retire, I'll write that book I always wanted to." And some people actually do that!

What's funny is you don't really realize just how many authors live here until an event like Saturday's. Last week was the Naples Book & Author Festival. I didn't make it this year, but we went last year and it was amazing to discover all the local writers! I guess we all hide in our little author places and no one really knows that we're here.

What about where you live? Are there lots of authors in hiding and when they come out, they surprise you? Or are they out all over the place? Or do you feel lucky to drive 100 miles to go to a signing? I've lived in many of those places, too.

  1. I think it is so great, that writers do signings!!
I have been to several signings during the years, but these have been mostly local writers. It has also been fun to meet them and talk to them. What I miss is having some internationally known writers coming to tours, but the marked is probably insignifically small, so they don't bother and it does not pay off for them.
I wouldn't mind visiting neighbouring countries if I knew that my favorite authors would be there for visit and signing :)I would go gladly.
Unfortunately I missed the London Book Fair this year. there were lot of interesting writers there at the workshops, seminars and also book signings. Let's see if that is going to work out for me next year.

  2. Congrats on the signing! Florida is a beautiful place, I wouldn't mind living there myself.

I live in Houston, so yes there's a ton of authors here but I feel totally lucky to live where we have lots and lots of author signings and events.

Glad you stopped by. Nothing to say? Just say "hi" so I know you were here.
